Dragons Den

As part of of 'Dragons Den' design project the students in Room 2 created a business and then presented their design idea to our 'Dragons'.

All our business teams did really well. They had scale models of their product, business slogans, an advertisement for their product and lots of personality!

Design Project!

This term our topic is design. Room 2 has arranged themselves into business groups. These groups have a CEO, a head of advertising, a head of finance and a head of creative design.

As part of this project the business groups must create a product and present it to our in school 'Dragons Den'. 

Yesterday the groups created a model which they will use in their presentations to the 'Dragons"

Day of the Chef

The year 8's in Room 2 had an awesome opportunity to take part in the 'International Day of the Chef'.

Our students went to Lynfield and learnt to cook a variety of tasty treats. 

Massive term ahead!

What an incredible term we had in term 3! We had a science fair, we studied space and the planets, we learnt some great volleyball skills from our kiwisport coach and had a great trip to Stardome. Term 4 is all about Design! Room 2 students will be following the design process as a part of a design challenge they will be participating in this term! 

St Johns First Aid Training

If you have a medical emergency then Room 2 are equipped to help. This term St Johns came to Glenavon and taught our students how to respond if they found someone who was unconscious. 

Using our DRS ABC we responded to our mock patients and made sure they had the best chance of recovering. Using the CPR dummies each student learnt the correct way to provide CPR.

We also learnt how to respond to someone who had a bleeding cut on their bodies. Our students took turns being the patient and the helper.

Volleyball Season

This term Room 2 has had expert coaching for volleyball. Every Monday we have had a kiwisport coach teach us all the basic skills to play the game.

Our students have loved learning these skills through playing games and it has been perfect preparation for the year 7 & 8 volleyball tournament in term 4. 

The Great Egg Challenge!

With the Science Fair only a few weeks away, Room 2 was given a challenge. They must create an invention that can catch an egg without it cracking.

Firstly every group was given a bucket of random materials and had half an hour to design and build their invention.

Once building time was over the class then entered their invention into the competition and the egg dropping began! Every invention looked different and some were more effective than others. The final two groups made it to the 3 meter drop!
